Our sister company, Sustainable Aquatics is the worlds larges indoor hatchery for marine ornamentals.  Breeding hundreds of varieties of warm and cold water fish  required careful  recreation of  the macro and micro nutrients required to successfully breed a specific species. The Hatchery enjoys 100% faster growth rates vs. competitors with  <2% deformities, <2% egg to harvest losses.. all without antibiotics or vaccines.  We have replicated these results in salmon. 

Virtually all commercial dry feeds have been “cooked” in extruders with many of the essential micronutrients denatured or missing entirely.  Missing micronutrients include taurine, selenium, zinc, iron, & magnesium.  

We also observed all commercial hatchery diets lack the most powerful antioxidant astaxanthin.  Astaxanthin in the 3S, 3'S isomer form takes up residence in the cell plasma membrane and mitochondria walls.  This is an essential micronutrient with but one role: protect the mitochondria, cell DNA and other micronutrients from damage originating caused by surplus reactive oxygen species (ROS) is produced inside the cell by the mitochondria's  power production chemistry.  We found this form astaxanthin widely present at the bottom of the marine food chain in algae, copepods, krill and other crustaceans but absent from commercial feeds. 

Astaxanthin is well "known " in the salmon and char industries who add synthetic or yeast derived astaxanthin as a coloring agent. These products tint salmon flesh orange but have virtually no impact on broodstock fecundity, growth rates, deformity & mortality rates & immune system performance. 

We developed a completely novel process for making algae derived 3S, 3'S astaxanthin highly bioavailable.

Amplifeed(tm) Topcoat is our supplement, designed to be coated onto a hatchery's preferred dry feed diet. Amplifeed Topcoat contains 8 essential micronutrients which should be applied at different inclusion rates for broodstock feeds, first feeds and grow-out. 

We also offer our Hatchery Diet,  our complete astaxanthin enriched dry feed containing all of the micro-nutrients needed for first feeds and broodstock fecundity.
